Another species from the rapids of the endangered Xingu region in Brazil is the Golden Vampire Pleco. It's a rare encounter in the wild, and certainly no less so in captivity. Maximum Total Length: 22 cm / 9''.
Still a new Pleco to the hobby, but highly desired thanks to their really interesting appearance! They grow to be about 8 inches long, and they are typical omnivores, needing both meat and vegetable-based foods.
An attractive species that when settled in and mature, is robust, yellowy brown, almost golden in colour, and covered in rich, chocolate-brown spots. Juveniles are more silvery grey than golden and tend to be somewhat marbled.
