The Blackline Blenny, Meiacanthus nigrolineatus, is also known as the Black-lined Fangblenny. It is a member of the “Fang Blennies”, a group of free-swimming venomous Blennies that are often difficult to keep as wild-caught fish, but are almost ubiquitously cultured and available as captive-bred fishe.
The Blackline Blenny features a handsome color palette with a striking blue head coloration that transitions beautifully to a yellow body coloration. Its black dorsal fin and a namesake black line that follows the upper contours of its body add a refined and sophisticated accent to this active but peaceful species. Originally found in the Red Sea and Western Indian Ocean, the Blackline Blenny will easily find itself at home in the community reef aquarium
